Falcon’s Preaching Video

This past weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to go and evangelize at the Atlanta Falcon’s pre season game against the San Diego Chargers. We were handing out tracts and preaching as the people went into watch the game. One thing that struck me is that as most of these people were going into the game that most of them would not remember the score of this game in twenty years. Many would not remember who won the game in thirty years. That being said all the people going into the Falcon’s game would know for sure in 100 years or so if they were in right standing with God. Every last one of them would know because they would be in Heaven or in Hell. That is heavy thought. All 75,000 people or so will know for sure in a short period of time where they stood with God. Unfortunately most of then will end up in Hell.

Another thought crossed my mind was about worship. I assume that most people will scream and holler and cheer and hug complete strangers in the stadium if Matt Ryan scored a touchdown. However, most people will not even celebrate Jesus from their heart after what he did on the cross. Think about we go wild when someone carries a blown up pig skin across a goal line but when Jesus was scourged, slapped, spit upon, stabbed ridiculed, mocked, pierced with nails and hung on the cross naked there is little cheering. This is the greatest moment in a believers life. Christ was brutalized and crushed for our sins. We in essence win the greatest game ever played. The game for our souls.

As I walked away from the from the Georgia Dome the game started and the crowd inside went nuts. The noise they made sounded like a jet taking off on full afterburners it was so loud. It was very impressive to here that from outside the stadium. I got to thinking wouldn’t it be great one day when I am coming into church that gratitude for Christ would cause the ceiling to come off in the sanctuary.
