I was watching TV this weekend and saw this video. This is a short clip from a longer video of Jeffrey Dahmer. Jeffrey Dahmer was a very famous mass murder who was believed to have murdered over 20 people and is considered to be one of the most notorious serial killers on US history. As I watched this video I was curious to see if Jeffrey thought that his actions were wrong to see maybe if his conscience was convicting him. Stone Phillips a news reporter asked Jeffrey if he thought his genes had caused him to right or wrong. He reply was no.
He knew that what he was doing was wrong and even took steps to cover over his crimes. This video was shot about 9 months before Jeffrey was beat to death by another inmate at the prison he was staying at. I am grateful to see Jeffrey confess the Lord. In another segment of this same video Jeffrey goes on to say that there is only one true God and he is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. When thinking about this it would seem that this conversion of Jeffrey Dahmer is not very palatable by many people. Many people may see this as a ploy or just jail house conversion and really only Jeffrey and The Lord God truly knows, however most people cannot handle this for yet another reason. Most people believe that this crime is too unforgivable by God. That Jeffrey somehow crossed over a line that even God cannot forgive. Many people may believe that God should not pardon Jeffrey Dahmer because he would not be just to release a serial killer who cannibalized his victims. God cannot forgive the cannible. It is just to heinous in many peoples eyes to be forgiven. All of the reasons though are just a sign of human pride. Maybe it is a comparative religion of sorts. I do not do this, this or that so God must accept me. I am not a child murderer or a prostitute so I must be OK by God. I at the very least am not as bad as Jeffrey. However this line of thinking does not take into account the Holiness of God. One characteristic of God is that he is Holy. The Bible says that His eyes are too pure to look upon sin. That includes Jeffrey’s murders, the prideful’s boastings, my stealing and your lying. He is to pure to look at our sin. The free release of Jeffrey Dahmer would be unjust as well as the free release of our sins would be unjust if God had not paid for that release. Jeffrey’s sins and our sins can only be paid for by one means and one means not cross mingles with any other means of payment for sin. That payment is Christ alone. You see even the best of us are enemies of God separated by evil deeds. We are all enemies of God. You, me, the president, the policeman and Jeffrey Dahmer are all enemies of God. Thank God that we can all be forgiven and set free like Jeffrey by faith in Christ.
……On board the ship that night was John Harper and his much-beloved six-year-old daughter Nana. According to documented reports, as soon as it was apparent that the ship was going to sink, John Harper immediately took his daughter to a lifeboat. It is reasonable to assume that this widowed preacher could have easily gotten on board this boat to safety; however, it never seems to have crossed his mind. He bent down and kissed his precious little girl; looking into her eyes he told her that she would see him again someday. The flares going off in the dark sky above reflected the tears on his face as he turned and headed towards the crowd of desperate humanity on the sinking ocean liner.
As the rear of the huge ship began to lurch upwards, it was reported that Harper was seen making his way up the deck yelling, “Women, children and unsaved into the lifeboats!” It was only minutes later that the Titanic began to rumble deep within. Most people thought it was an explosion; actually the gargantuan ship was literally breaking in half. At this point, many people jumped off the decks and into the icy, dark waters below. John Harper was one of these people.
That night 1528 people went into the frigid waters. John Harper was seen swimming frantically to people in the water leading them to Jesus before the hypothermia became fatal. Mr. Harper swam up to one young man who had climbed up on a piece of debris. Rev. Harper asked him between breaths, “Are you saved?” The young man replied that he was not.
Harper then tried to lead him to Christ only to have the young man who was near shock, reply no. John Harper then took off his life jacket and threw it to the man and said, “Here then, you need this more than I do…” and swam away to other people. A few minutes later Harper swam back to the young man and succeeded in leading him to salvation. Of the 1528 people that went into the water that night, six were rescued by the lifeboats. One of them was this young man on the debris.
Four years later, at a survivors meeting, this young man stood up and in tears recounted how that after John Harper had led him to Christ. Mr. Harper had tried to swim back to help other people, yet because of the intense cold, had grown too weak to swim. His last words before going under in the frigid waters were, “Believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” Does Hollywood remember this man? No. Oh well, no matter. This servant of God did what he had to do. While other people were trying to buy their way onto the lifeboats and selfishly trying to save their own lives, John Harper gave up his life so that others could be saved.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends…” John Harper was truly the hero of the Titanic!

But is he a Biblical pastor or not?
Pastor John MacArthur exposes Joel Osteen as a pagan religionist, a quasi-pantheist, and an agent of Satan. He critiques Joel’s book, quotes, and prayer and compares them with what the Bible teaches.

There are false prophets everywhere today. They have always been saying Christ is coming now and even give the dates. They are full of greed and corruption! Christ said don’t believe them when they say the end is here. Many things must happen before christ comes to judge.
This past week we were able to reach out and tell people about Jesus at 5 Points MARTA station in heart of Atlanta. Telling people about Christ is awesome thing at any time and seeing the different reactions to the Gospel is an amazing thing to see. The Bible is reconfirmed in my heart as I watch the way people respond to the Gospel when seen in the light of the parable of the seeds. Let us look at Mark 4: 1 Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. 2 He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: 3 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”
When witnessing to people we see the reaction described in verse 4. People are hear it and it seems they are instantly devoured by the enemy. The seed is eaten in moments. This show us the power of sin in peoples lives that it miracle of God to remove the love of sin that consumes them. I see this reaction often with people who are in bondage to drugs and alcohol. Many times they will agree whole heartily that they are addicted are bound by this sin but it appears all to often that they are dragged instantaneously back by the power these sins have over them.
One of the encouraging things the Lord allows us to see is the reaction of the 4th seed mentioned in verse 8. Let me tell you it so wonderful to see this reaction. The seed fell on good soil and grew and produced crops. I know of two men who the Lord saved and these guys have become a sponge for learning about their Lord and Savior. Person Bible studies, listening to sermons, going to group Bible studies, fervent prayer, witnessing. It is like see the fruit explode right in front of you 30,60 and 100 times. I am so encouraged by this. I am encouraged that I do not have to beg them to come to church or Bible study or that I do not have to call them time after time to see if they are coming to church. It is a forgone conclusion that they want to get to know their Lord better and better every day and Church and Bible study are good places for this to happen.
The Bible and it’s accuracy in the description of man reaction the Bible just amazes me over and over and over again.
We are told that the Captain of our salvation was made perfect through suffering, therefore we who are sinful, and who are far from being perfect, must not wonder if we are called to pass through suffering too. Shall the head be crowned with thorns, and shall the other members of the body be rocked upon the dainty lap of ease? Must Christ pass through seas of His own blood to win the crown, and are we to walk to heaven dryshod in silver slippers? No, our Master’s experience teaches us that suffering is necessary, and the true-born child of God must not, would not, escape it if he might. But there is one very comforting thought in the fact of Christ’s “being made perfect through suffering”—it is, that He can have complete sympathy with us. “He is not an high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.” In this sympathy of Christ we find a sustaining power. One of the early martyrs said, “I can bear it all, for Jesus suffered, and He suffers in me now; He sympathizes with me, and this makes me strong.” Believer, lay hold of this thought in all times of agony. Let the thought of Jesus strengthen you as you follow in His steps. Find a sweet support in His sympathy; and remember that, to suffer is an honourable thing—to suffer for Christ is glory. The apostles rejoiced that they were counted worthy to do this. Just so far as the Lord shall give us grace to suffer for Christ, to suffer with Christ, just so far does He honour us. The jewels of a Christian are his afflictions. The regalia of the kings whom God hath anointed are their troubles, their sorrows, and their griefs. Let us not, therefore, shun being honoured. Let us not turn aside from being exalted. Griefs exalt us, and troubles lift us up. “If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him.”
“The love of Christ which passeth knowledge.”
Ephesians 3:19
The love of Christ in its sweetness, its fulness, its greatness, its faithfulness, passeth all human comprehension. Where shall language be found which shall describe his matchless, his unparalleled love towards the children of men? It is so vast and boundless that, as the swallow but skimmeth the water, and diveth not into its depths, so all descriptive words but touch the surface, while depths immeasurable lie beneath. Well might the poet say,
“O love, thou fathomless abyss!”
for this love of Christ is indeed measureless and fathomless; none can attain unto it. Before we can have any right idea of the love of Jesus, we must understand his previous glory in its height of majesty, and his incarnation upon the earth in all its depths of shame. But who can tell us the majesty of Christ? When he was enthroned in the highest heavens he was very God of very God; by him were the heavens made, and all the hosts thereof. His own almighty arm upheld the spheres; the praises of cherubim and seraphim perpetually surrounded him; the full chorus of the hallelujahs of the universe unceasingly flowed to the foot of his throne: he reigned supreme above all his creatures, God over all, blessed forever. Who can tell his height of glory then? And who, on the other hand, can tell how low he descended? To be a man was something, to be a man of sorrows was far more; to bleed, and die, and suffer, these were much for him who was the Son of God; but to suffer such unparalleled agony–to endure a death of shame and desertion by his Father, this is a depth of condescending love which the most inspired mind must utterly fail to fathom. Herein is love! and truly it is love that “passeth knowledge.” O let this love fill our hearts with adoring gratitude, and lead us to practical manifestations of its power.
A Christian speaks with a man who has many questions about the Bible. Watch what the law does to the man’s friend. Can you trust the Bible? Is Hell right here on Earth? Was Jesus a metaphor? Can we live up to what Jesus Standard? Can we know God personally? If man wrote the Bible how can we trust it? Is God an alien? We hope you enjoy this brief video.
Luke 13:34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!
Jerusalem had had a long blood history of treating the prophets sent from God with violence. Many of the prpophets had been stoned to death for bringing God’s truth to a rebellious people. Jesus had just been dealing with some of these hypocritical religious leaders in the temple. He had just heaed a woman on the Sabbath day. The religious leaders took great offense at this. The religious leaders were still stiffneck and hardened against the Jesus. What is truly amazing is that through all this Jesus still want to gather these people to him. He says in the verse that He,”often” wanted to gather them to himself. It is an ongoing process not a one time deal, he often wants to gather the sinner to himself. We can see he want to do so in a manner as mother hen want to gather her chicks.
Are you stuck in a sin of rebellion? Are you involved in religion but do not hid under the protective wings of the Saviour? Jesus wants to gather you to himself today.
This is a fascinating video of a man you use to be in the Jehovah Witnesses. He worked for 6 years in their headquarters in Bethel New York. He has since been reborn (John chapter 3) and left the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. Praise God for this.
So what do you say to A Jehovah witness when they come knocking on the door. Watch this video and see what a former Witness would say to them.

A Christian takes a few moments to speak with a Jehovah Witness and her friends about where they will spend eternity. It is appointed for a man once to die and after this the judgement. We see the Christian telling these young ladies that the Bible says if they do not repent they will perish.
We speak with Patricia who claims to be a good person. We speak with her at the 5 Points Marta station in Atlanta GA. She hopes that by trying to live a better life than she has that she will get into Heaven. We beg her to stop trusting in her own goodness and to trust Jesus. The proud and self righteous will not inheret the Kingdom. Are you trusting in your own goodness to save you? The Bible call all to humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord. In Mark 5 Jesus says there is no one good but God alone. So either Jesus is correct or you are correct if you claim to be a good person
